What is CAD?
Computer Aided Dispatch is a automated system that helps the call
takers and dispatchers collect information about events and track which
units respond and what action they take.
Shelby County 9-1-1 uses
Intergraph CAD
which was already in use by the Sheriff's Office when we consolidated
dispatch.
The Sheriff's department continues to
use it as well as the police departments of Alabaster and Montevallo.
Most of the other police departments also use a CAD system, just a
different vendor. Birmingham and Jefferson County use Intergraph and we
hope to link our systems in the future. |
